Access Legal is a new legal technology division of the Access Group, following the acquisitions of case and practice management providers Eclipse Legal Systems and DPS Software in 2020, as well as the Access Group’s previous acquisitions of legal online training, compliance and risk management solution providers Riliance and Socrates. Combined, this means Access Legal has an initial customer base of 3,500 legal practices.

Already working alongside a third of the UK legal market and supporting firms of all sizes and specialisms, Access Legal is providing software to renowned firms such as Eversheds, Winn Solicitors, Wolferstans, Minster Law, Neves Solicitors LLP and The MAPD Group.

Access Legal’s solutions have been designed to go beyond just helping fee earners with essential legal case and practice management and accounts requirements to now support every aspect of a firm’s operations – including legal compliance and learning and relevant existing Access software, such as people management, financial solutions, payments technology and CRM.

Acorn Legal provides an outsourced legal accounts service aimed at sole practitioners and smaller firms. The practice does not need to employ a cashier, purchase software or undergo training. A fixed monthly fee covers all accounts postings and regular reporting, including reports such as quarterly VAT figures. Online access is also available for ledger enquiries, time recording and custom reports. A comprehensive report pack is provided at the end of each month and a more detailed pack at the year-end which the firm can hand straight to the reporting accountant.

Aderant is a leading international provider of business solutions to professional services organisations worldwide. Products offered include CMS.net, Keystone, Aderant Business Intelligence, Novient and now Aderant Front Office CRM. They are also able to offer major domain expertise. Today with three major regional centres UK & Europe, Asia Pacific and North America their global workforce is focused specifically on services software. Chrome River is a hosted online expense claim and purchase ledger processing system for law firms. The user can log in over the internet and enter expense/invoice against the appropriate matter or project number. Invoices/receipts are scanned in and attached to the entry. It also integrates with credit cards. 70% of the AMLAW 100 are Chrome River clients. The company is based in the USA but has expanded into the UK.

Civica is a market-leading specialist in digital solutions, critical applications and outsourcing services. Civica supply more than 4,000 organisations in 10 countries around the world. It recently took over Norwel and now supplies the high quality systems for major law firms and organisations previously supplied by Norwel. Their latest generation Prescient+ system provides a flexible suite of case management and practice management for larger organisations, including the Desktop Online portal for delivery of online client services via a secure web interface.

Clio provides a cloud based legal practice management software for law firms. Using Clio’s apps, lawyers can manage their case files, invoicing, and communications securely from mobile phones, tablets, and computers. Clio originates from Vancouver, with additional offices in Toronto, London and Dublin. Clio is offered as a member benefit through the Law Society of Scotland, Leeds Law Society, and the Institute of Legal Finance Management, as well as used as a teaching aid in 17 universities across the UK.

Conscious Solutions is one of the leading website design & digital marketing providers to law firms in the UK. They have also developed a niche in providing CRM software and services to law firms. This is based on the open source version of SuiteCRM, software used by thousands of commercial organisations worldwide, hitting a milestone of over 10,000 downloads in one week. It also the won the BOSSIE awards in 2015 and 2016. Conscious have extended SuiteCRM to suit the needs of law firms providing bolt-ons called Legal Pack. Their services include the installation, configuration, admin training and user training as well as integration into Practice Management System.

C-Track is Thomson Reuters’ court management and filing solution designed to capture, track, process and report on court information and keep cases moving through the judicial process. The web-based software, designed to solve the complexity of appellate and trial court case flow, can be configured to operate with multiple agency or partner products and systems to ensure a seamless and efficient workflow solution. The software has been developed and extended over a 15 year period and deployed in multiple courts throughout the US and in the UK. In the UK, C-Track has been deployed to deliver the CE-File Service (for electronic filing and fee payments) for HM Courts and Tribunals Service, initially for the 4 High Court jurisdictions operating from the Rolls Building in London.

Denovo Business Intelligence is a secure, bespoke cloud case management for UK law firms. Their Denovo Intelligent Cloud, one of the company’s “Intelligence” range of software, covers accounts, time, legal aid, diary and other aspects of the firm’s work. Ferret Information Systems was established in 1987 and is the largest company in Europe in the field of law dealing with welfare benefits and similar areas of determinative, compliance, and regulatory law. They specialise in the holistic assessment of financial circumstances relating to welfare benefits entitlement, together with specialist assessment areas including pensions, Equity Release and Housing Grants. Systems supported include network, desktop, laptop, mobile devices, Internet and Intranet. Training and consultancy also undertaken.
