Website Workout
An Analysis and Review of your Web Site

I am a computer consultant giving advice to lawyers and a creator and editor of various publications related to the Internet for Lawyers. Details of my experience are given here.

I spend a great deal of time looking at the web sites of firms, chambers and other legal organisations. I feel that I have a pretty good idea of what what works, and what does not work, in each case.

Comments from recent clients....

  • JMW Solicitors - "Thanks for your very helpful analysis".
  • Edwin Coe - "The report is excellent and will assist us greatly in determining how we should take the website forward."
  • GSC Solicitors - "The partners here felt that it provided invaluable information and considered it a thoroughly worthwhile excercise and excellent value for money."
  • Manches Family Law Department - "I find your comments extremely helpful."
  • Bowling & Co. "I was pleased to receive such a comprehensive and useful analysis."

The Workout provides an assessment of the following:

    1. The general impression given; is the site lively, attractive, useful, boring, pompous, fussy, silly?
    2. Targetting: is your page properly aimed at the intended market? (You must tell me what is your intended market).
    3. Different screen sizes: I will look at the site in screens with different pixel ratings.
    4. Speed of loading: how long does your front page take to come up? (I will time this). Does something come up quickly to hold the viewer's attention? Are the graphics too large? I can sometimes make some suggestions on how to reduce the size of these, or use fewer colours.
    5. Frames (if used): I can tell you whether the frames "work" in different browsers and screen sizes.
    6. Metatags: are you using these properly? Are they enabling the search engines to find your site? If appropriate, I can give you some advice on how to improve this.
    7. Real information: do you provide any real information and is it well presented and easy to navigate?
    8. Links to other sites (if used): I will give an assessment of the relevance of these, and possibly suggest others of the same type which you could add, if appropriate.
    9. Advanced features; counters, things which move, sound effects, dynamic html, use of Java..... I can give you an idea of which of these work and which are just irritating.

The Workout costs: (yes, these are subjective size ratings!)

    (Plus VAT in all cases).

I am pleased to accept orders by email and I will invoice you later. Please ensure that your full details - name, firm/chambers and postal address - are in the email. Please also give me some information about the market you are trying to attract - private clients, commercial clients, specific market sectors, and so on. If you have already received any work from the site - or not, as the case may be - please tell me that as well.
