Section 4 - Price and Service Comparison Sites for Legal Services
(Note that these are also referral sites)
You can return to the main "Selling and Marketing" contents page here.
Last updated May 20th.
The companies described here make a particular point of the price comparison facilities on their sites but
they are also referral sites. So, see also the separate page on
Companies able to put an individual in touch with a suitable solicitor (referral and marketing panels)
here.
CompareConveyancers.co.uk, set up by the Yorkshire
Building Society, has 180 solicitors on their panel. The site says that you will get an exact quote in 2 minutes.
CompareLegalSolutions.com is an instant legal comparison
service for individuals. The site allows the user to compares prices either as fixed fees or
showing average hourly rates for the type of work in question.
The rates also come with a 5 star rating and the user indicates which solicitors might be suitable;
the solicitors then contact the user.
Compare UK Conveyancing allows you to compare
the conveyancing marketplace and get conveyancing quotes from leading conveyancing firms from all over England and Wales.
All conveyancers listed are experienced in handling conveyancing instructions and offer excellent value for money.
First Law, Established in 1999,
advises on and manages formal legal tenders for a wide variety of large organisations in the public and
private sectors. They have participated in close to 1,000 interviews with law firms and lawyers and
they annually tender around £10 million of legal work. Over 250 different law firms have participated in
their tenders. The
service is free to clients - FirstLAW takes a referral fee from any firm that is
appointed through them. FirstLAW's founder and CEO is
Anthony Armitage. More information
from aa@firstlaw.co.uk.
Legallybetter is a new panel site (for solicitors) and
comparison site (for individuals). It is not strictly speaking a price comparison site but "value for money" is
one of the criteria on which clients can enter their views and general comments can be made.
Solicitors can decline to have unfavourable comments put on the site but favourable ones are (apparently)
carefully checked to see if they are genuine! Firms can purchase entries on the site at various levels,
and for particular work areas and particular local areas.
The site quotes research indicating that online research is now a key way that people look for a solicitor.
