  • HighStreetLawyer.com is a national network of independent law firms operating under one brand. The brand (still building up) has been founded by solicitor Gary Yantin and is apparently backed by private equity investment. It launched to the general public at the end of November 2010 with a series of fixed price legal services to consumers and owners of small businesses. The site offers many services and documents including wills from £200 plus VAT and conveyancing from £520 plus VAT. The user fills in a form online with details of the service required and is then contacted with a suitable solicitor.

  • QualitySolicitors was originally a referral company, setting up in 2009, but then changed its purpose in life to be a brand for High Street firms. The team is led by barrister Craig Holt. By Autumn 2010 there are already branches all across the UK and there are expected to be 100 by the end of 2010. A sample of firms which have gone public so far are Burroughs Day – Bristol and Portishead, Morrish – Bradford and Pudsey, Leeds, Freeman Harris – SE1 and Lewisham, John Fowler – Colchester, Howlett Clarke – Brighton and Hove, A D Varley – Preston, Stephensons – Wigan, Burn & Co – York and Easingwold, Lockings – Hull and Beverley and Andrew Ford – Leicester. Firms have to totally "rebrand" with the name becoming, for example "QualitySolicitors Burroughs", and all stationery, office decoration, web sites etc following the same branded design.
