Before listing the firms' web sites, it is perhaps useful to include the following resources and information:

  • Jersey Legal Information Board is the official source of legal information in Jersey. This includes Legislation and Unreported Judgments from 1997 onwards together with Practice Directions of the Royal Court, the consolidated Royal Court Rules and the Jersey Law Review. There is also a list of all Jersey law firms with web site links and email addresses.

  • States of Guernsey provides information on government, finance, industry and tourism.

  • Guernsey Bar introduces the profession of Guernsey Advocate and Guernsey law itself. There is extensive background information on the legal system in Guernsey, an introduction to the Guernsey Bar, contact details for Guernsey firms and advice about how best to work with a Guernsey Advocate. There is also a detailed glossary of legal terms and links to other legal sites in the Channel Islands.

  • The States of Jersey - the Official Government site for the Island of Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands situated in the English Channel. Everything you could want to know about Jersey and its government. There is also a section on Jersey as e-business portal.

  • ISI Publications Ltd is a publisher of e-commerce and investment titles with offices in Hong Kong, the UK and Bermuda. There are particular services offered including OffshoreOn.com for the offshore business community providing news and analysis on business and legal developments. This includes a considerable amount of legal content on this topic in a newsletter called LawOffshore. Although subscription based, there is a summary of the content free on the site and some of the articles are available free of charge.

  • Appleby, with 800 lawyers, is a key provider of offshore legal, fiduciary and administration services with branches in Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Mauritius and the Seychellesas well as the international financial centres of London, Hong Kong, Zurich and Bahrain.

  • AO Hall was established in 2005 by Alison Ozanne and Louise Hall, two leading Guernsey advocates specialising in dispute resolution and employment law. There are downloadable guides in corporate law, dispute resolution, employment and intellectual property available on the web site together with articles, newsletters and alerts.

  • Babbe Conveyancing - Guernsey

  • BakerPlatt, based in Jersey, specialises in litigation, financial services regulation, crime, international co-operation and insolvency.

  • Bedell Cristin - Jersey
    There is an extensive Jersey Legislation Update and also a selection of Jersey Judgments

  • Cains - Isle of Man (with lots of information about the Isle of Man)

  • Carey Olsen - Jersey, Guernsey and London

  • Carters - Douglas, Isle of Man

  • Conti - Douglas, Isle of Man

  • Collas Day - Guernsey

  • Crills is now part of Walkers, see below

  • Crill Canavan - Jersey

  • Hanson Renouf - St Helier, Jersey, Barristers and Advocates (associated with no. 5 Chambers, Birmingham).
    There are articles on Jersey law and a section "about Jersey" which further explains the development of Jersey Customary Law.

  • M&P Legal (Formerly Mann and Partners) - Douglas, Isle of Man
    Contains commentaries and reviews of areas of Manx Law

  • MannBennham Limited - Douglas, Isle of Mann

    Now merged with Ozannes to create Mourant Ozannes. With over 200 fee-earners and 50 partners practising from offices in the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey and London, Mourant Ozannes is one of the world's largest offshore law firms.
